As the world becomes more urban, disasters, both natural and man-made, are increasing both in their frequency and catastrophic impact on humankind especially in large urban agglomerations in developing countries and especially in their shanty towns located in marginal lands and also near industrial plants. This study builds on the 2005 publication title State of Environmental Health Report of the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area 2001.
