Policing in Nigeria: So Far, How Well, in eight parts, is a product for a retreat for the Nigeria Police at Abuja in 2010. The retreat was meant to improve the image of the Nigeria Police for effective policing. The book contains a recall of an earlier experience of the author of a similar paper given to mark the 55 years of the founding of the Nigeria Union of Journalists entitled Journalism in Nigeria, So Far, How Well. Police Force is as much a service organ as journalism which has an obligation to monitor governance, just as the police have to prevent the commission of crime and maintain law and order in the polity. The emphasis which many may think is overkill in the area of criticism, through testimonies, is meant to drive home the seriousness of the problem facing the Nigeria Police Force so as to fully appreciate the cultural/spiritual dimension advocated for its solution.
