It is considered a hopeful sign that the increased awareness of the role and contributions of Nigeria’s First Ladies to Nation-Building encouraged the government to establish various programmes and policies to improve the lot of women in the country. This has in turn spurred women to fight for awareness and institute measures to protect themselves from many forms of discrimination. The Book addresses the issue of women in Nigeria organizing for action on variety of fronts before and after independence noting catalogues of achievements of the First Ladies.
