In Vietnam history, Nguyen Trai ( 1380 - 1442 ) was a Great Hero of the Cause of National Liberation, brilliant & outstanding diplomat, the grand old man of Vietnam literature in both Chinese & Vietnamese Nom scripts. Nguyen Trai's destiny was a glorious and sorrowful. But he left for generations a tremendous cultural legacy. Up to the year of 2008, in modern Vietnam bibliography, there are two editions of Nguyen Trai Collected Works ( NCW ): the first edition that was collected, examined, edited & translated into modern Vietnamese written language ( MVWL ) by Editor-in-chief: Dao Duy Anh ( 1904 - 1988 ). Tran Van Giap ( 1902 - 1973 ), Van Tan, published in the years of 1969 and 1976; and the second one - that was collected, examined, edited & translated into MVWL by Editor-in-chief: Mai Quoc Lien. Nguyen Quang Tuan, Nguyen Khue, Kieu Thu Hoach, published in the year of 2001. And now you are holding another Grand Anthology of Nguyen Trai ( a new in its kind ) compiled by the author Gia Dung and published by prestigious publishing house of HOI NHA VAN in the year of 2009. During interval around 40 years between the three editions of NCW, Vietnam Culturology, Philology, Textology ... and many other social sciences have been made a great leap ahead.
