This book is a study of the traditions and history of an ancient Kandyan village Mangalagama including its origins, the details of some of its prominent families, their ancestry and the sannasas granted to them by the Sinhala kings. It also provides a description of the arts and crafts as well as paintings of the Kandyan artificers including the designing and construction of some prominent historic landmarks in the Kandyan kingdom including the Pattirippuwa or Octagon of the Dalada Maligawa, the Magul Maduwa or Audience Hall, the Kandy Lake among others.
