This lavishly illustrated book documents step by step the process of restoration of Wat Bakong, one of the most iconic Buddhist monuments of the Angkor area (Siem Reap). Left undamaged by the Khmer Rouge and painted in the 1940’s by a small team of local painters, the galleries of the vihara (sancta sanctorum) are decorated with episodes of the last ten Jatakas while the inner walls of the vihara contain magnificent scenes of the life of Buddha and other rare events.
