This book “Behind the Darkness” is part of Youth for Peace’s effort to document oral history of the Khmer Rouge past. This book collects the stories of former Khmer Rouge, thereby giving important insights into the functioning of the regime and approaching the important question of how such a regime could take place. The Khmer Rouge destroyed many of our social and cultural values, including many core elements of social cohesion.
