The buildings reflect myriad cultural influences and include landmarks such as the Mount Nelson, the National Library, the Centre for the Book, Koopman's De Wet House, the Royal Observatory, St George's Cathedral, the Irma Stern Museum, the Greek Orthodox Cathedral and Founders House, Bishops.
