The book is a compilation of 72 presentations presented at the National Science Conference on Linguistics under the theme "Quoc Ngu: Formation, Development and Contribution to Vietnamese Culture" that took place in October 2015 at the Faculty of Literature and Language, University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City in collaboration with Phu Yen University and Oriental Development Research Institute, focusing on four important issues related to Vietnam MNWL. Contents: Parts: I - Vietnamese MNWL: Formation and development. II - Vietnamese MNWL: The contributions to Vietnamese culture. III - Vietnamese MNWL and Latinizing situation in some other countries. The discussion papers shown the scientific and practical basis of the Vietnamese orthographical standard so to ensure the preservation of the identity and clarity of the Vietnamese language in line with the trend of international integration. The discussion papers also referred to the general theoretical issues, directly shed light into the specific orthographical problems such as the Vietnamese alphabet; writing a foreign proper names, capitalized place name, organization name; punctuation; abbreviations and readings ... The surveys and studies of Vietnamese MNWL in early Vietnamese MNWL works such as: Tu vi An Nam – Bo Đao Nha – La tinh, Phep giang tam ngay, Sach so sang chep cac viec, Gia Đinh Bao, Phu nu tan van, Nam Phong tap chi, Chuyen đi Bac Ky nam At Hoi, Thay Lazaro Phien ... shows the overview of the shape and formation of Vietnamese MNWL. Based on that, issues related to the structure and character of Vietnamese MNWL over time are described and analyzed in various aspects, adding useful and meaningful information for the Vietnamese MNWL studies. Through the writings, the issues & problems of Vietnamese MNWL were reviewed and evaluated on both the synchronic and diachronic aspects.
