Each of these poems is a signpost of an idea and feeling felt during my long stay outside the country. I have stayed away from Mauritius for almost 21 years, and in addition to developing a different vision of the 'place', one develops a different vision of one's inner self. Vinod Rughoonundun calls Mauritius a 'caillou sur Mer'. I dream to call it a small part of my deeply confused heart. In the constantly spinning dance of forms, as the Buddhists will call it, there is a part of this embedded Mauritius. Since the country made me what I am today. I owe everything I have to this past, so this is why I offer to it a piece of my 'Dark Blue Mauritius'.
