This book on constitutionalism and constitution-making and review focuses on both procedural aspects as well as the substantive features of constitutions in the ten countries that the Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa (OSISA) works in. The diversity and yet often stark similarities in these countries’ approaches to constitutionalism and constitution-making provide a rich body of information for a study on this topic. It aims to provide the reader with a composite body of knowledge on constitutions in Southern Africa and explores, through African case studies, various regional approaches to constitution-making and review.
