A photographic tribute to Sri Lanka's enchanting wilderness by talented wildlife photographers Isuru Gunasekera and Somanath Fernando. The choice of name is linked to its original meaning denoting a sacred place of safety and holiness which must be treated with respect and devotion. This comes with the belief that all living things within these retreats, both protected and unguarded, must be offered the immunity to function as partners of a natural ecosystem. It is hoped through Sanctuary to convey the importance of protecting all the unguarded enclaves where many endemic species live.
