Coastal Erosion in Vietnam South Provinces under the Impacts of Climate Change and Sea Level Rise The work provided some general insights into the coastal erosion’s laws of Vietnam South provinces in the past, present and future, especially the coastline of the Mekong Delta provinces, which are considered to be most affected by climate change and sea level rise in the present and future. The study has shed light on the current situation of coastal erosion, the underlying causes and trends of coastal erosion in relation to sea level rise for socio-economic development planning and management of Vietnam South 9 provinces and cities: Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Tra Vinh, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, Ca Mau, Kien Giang and Ho Chi Minh City. The study also predicts the trend of the coastal erosion for years of 2020, 2030 and 2050 for some key areas including Binh Chau-Ho Tram, Cua Lap (Ba Ria-Vung Tau), Can Gio (Ho Chi Minh City), Duyen Hai (Tra Vinh), Ganh Hao va near areas (Bac Lieu and Ca Mau), Phu Tan (Ca Mau) and An Minh (Kien Giang). Based on the results of the study, the authors recommended conducting a more comprehensive study to accurately assess the causes and factors affecting coastal erosion to provide a management’s solution in general and in each section of coastline in particular.
