The political transition of 2015 promised an end to ethno-religious violence in Sri Lanka. Three years later, this promise remains largely unfulfilled. In this study, Gehan Gunatilleke, examines how ethno-religious violence has persisted, particularly in its chronic form, and looks at some of the factors that entrench and sustain such forms of violence. He concludes by arguing for a cultural transformation that will confront the root cause of this violence.
