But what good is research in the humanities and the social sciences if its benefits are concealed in academic jargon? ... The promotion and affirmation of African musicology in South Africa by researchers and educational and government institutions will impact positively on the country’s cultural emancipation, economic growth, social cohesion and overall national development.
