To this day, Don Oberdorfer's book is still considered one of the best American books written about the 1968 Tet Offensive. The book was first published in 1971. The Vietnamese translation by Nguyen Ha focuses on the sections on prominent military activities, the effects of the attacks against the US public and government. The first chapter of the book deals with the assault on the US Embassy in Saigon with few participants and casualties, but shocked the American society. The next seven chapters cover the planning process for the offensive; battle of Saigon, Hue, Mekong Delta ... Along with the war in South Vietnam was the 'war' in America. There, the Americans realized they had been completely deceived by government propaganda about "winning at hand".
