The Protohistory is an important period in the history of the formation and development of South Vietnam. This was the time when the first inhabitants conquered and settled in the Mekong Delta. Historical records of this period are almost found in the ancient bibliographies of neighboring countries. These documents tell us of the existence of one of the earliest ancient countries in Southeast Asia - Funan Kingdom. By the end of the nineteenth century, with the development of archeology, the remains of ancient culture under the sediment of the delta were discovered for the first time. This book is a systematic work of archaeological discoveries in South Vietnam, compiling the achievements of French scholars before 1975 by L. Malleret, G. Coedes ... and new discoveries after 1975 by archeologists of Vietnam.
