In the years of 1987 - 1988, the Chinese military mobilized dozens of warships, armed with modern weapons operating in high frequency in the South China Sea and landed and occupied the reefs such as: Chu Thap, Chau Vien, Ga Ven, Tu Nghia,... (respectively in English: Fiery Cross Reef , Cuarteron Reef, Gaven Reef, Hughes Reef ...) in the Spratly Islands of Vietnam. The climax of this robbery attack was the assault on the group of Gac Ma, Co Lin, Len Đao (respectively in English: Johnson Reef, Collins Reef, Lansdowne Reef) on March 14, 1988, firing and sinking three Vietnamese Navy transport ships, killing sixty Vietnamese Navy men in charge of building and defending Vietnam sovereignty over Gac Ma (Johnson Reef) belonged to TRUONG SA (Spratly) Archipelago of Viet Nam. In that unbalanced battle, the soldiers of the Vietnamese navy were courageous, resiliently forming an immortal circle, standing in front of the guns of the enemy, accepting sacrificing themselves to assert sovereignty over the sacred sea of the country. In order to honor and forever remember the officers and soldiers of the heroic Vietnamese People's Navy who have been bravely fought and bravely sacrificed themselves to protect the sovereignty of the sea, and at the same time, in order to help a large readership more clearly understand this event, First New - Tri Viet Company, in many years has organized the publication of the Book of Gac Ma (Johnson Reef) - The Immortal Circle in the hope of re-enacting the heroic moment in the group of Gac Ma, Co Lin, Len Đao (Johnson Reef, Collins Reef, Lansdowne Reef) on March 14, 1988. In order to make this book, First News - Tri Viet sought to contact and organize many trips to many localities met with returning witnesses from Gac Ma (Johnson Reef), with the relatives of martyrs' families to collect materials, pictures and record the woeful and majestic memories, thereby outlining the picture of Gac Ma (Johnson Reef) – The Immortal Circle. This book was made with the participation of 68 people, including military generals, historians, journalists, Gac Ma (Johnson Reef) veterans, undergoing hundreds of revisions, 48 edition and 14 publishers during four years of licensing.
