Compiling and publishing my memos, letters and speeches in one single volume at this time and on the occasion of my 80th Birthday, provide a rare but unique opportunity for me to acknowledge with profound gratitude the role of certain individuals and institutions in the maturation of my thoughts and the development of my scholarship.
