The book assesses the decline in the country’s fortunes after the high point of its victory in war, with a view to developing greater understanding in future generations about how the country should, and could, move forward. But in addition the book also records a full life in other aspects, since the writer served during this period as Chair of the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats, while also pursuing his educational and literary interests, and also travelling to a range of countries.
