Besides the developments in the research of Kathmandu Valley towns, I have to note that Thimi has changed substantially its appearance in the past two decades. The survey works were primarily conducted in 1995-96 prior to my enrolment in Kyoto University with supplementary surveys continued until the completion of the thesis in 2002. Since then, Thimi, which was a village development committee in the then Nepal's local administrative structure, changed into municipality with its territory encompassing the surrounding historic town settlements, including the new developments that had occurred in its surrounding region. Within the town of Thimi itself, a continuous rebuilding of the town dwellings has been going on, and physical changes are evident.
