"The Banana Tree Crisis" was first published in 2006 and was awarded the Gratiaen Prize for the strength of the short stories it collated. The following year, it went on to bag the State Literary Award in the 'short stories' category. Over the years, the collection has gone into several reprints, and now PawPrint has the pleasure of releasing its latest re-formatted release under its Cayetaano imprint. The stories draw from a range of day-to-day, mundane (largely) cosmopolitan realities, and are fed with memorable twists, digressions and subtle shifts that converse with the reader's imagination. In doing so, Isankya brings into play a range of themes from friction among neighbours, nostalgic re-visitations of childhood, to the anxieties and tensions in a queue at a cricket stadium entrance.
