Vu Ngoc Phan's 'The Story of Hanoi', published by Bach Viet Publishing House in 1944, is a collection of autographs of the writer from 1939 to 1942 scattered in many Hanoi newspapers. In everyday life with humor and generosity, Vu Ngoc Phan wrote about Hanoi and the people of Hanoi with all the good, the bad, the honest about his home town. The book also criticizes the demagogue, false attitude and the true face of the French rulers in Vietnam. Therefore, an important part of the book was removed by the French when censored.
