In the first decade of the XX century, the Minh Tan movement intensified in Cochinchina. This is a patriotic movement taking place at the same time, both independently and in connection with the Dong Du and Duy Tan movements in the Central and Northern Vietnam. The Minh Tan movement in Cochinchina first started by calling the Vietnamese to change their economic thinking in the newspaper "Nong Co Man Dam" in 1901, then it developed into a patriotic movement when connected with Dong Du movement. The socio-economic context of the South in the early twentieth century and new ideas imported directly from France into Cochinchina led to the appearance of a campaign to renovate the economic thinking of Vietnamese people in Cochinchina, initiated by Luong Khac Ninh. The goal is to change the concept of Vietnamese people in business, trade, call for capital contribution to set up associations, open production and business companies, compete with foreign powers, enrich the people and the country.
