COVID-19 has unimaginably disrupted the lives and livelihoods in the Society. Industry and commerce incurred huge losses. Millions of formal and informal workers suffered multiple deprivations in the labour market. Unemployment soared high and employment rates declined considerably during the peak COVID-19 period and both did not improve appreciably by the end of 2020. Ironically, this period also witnessed substantial changes in the labour laws at the regional levels and the passage of three Labour codes at the national level.
