The primary focus of this book titled, Sketchbook of SADEQUAIN, is a collection of fifty (50) black and white drawings in pen and ink. These drawings were done as studies for the final set of drawings, which Sadequain made to interpret his quatrains published in his book titled Rubaiyyat-e-Sadequain Naqqash. This book is a new link in the chain of continuing efforts by SADEQUAIN Foundation. The Foundation, founded in 2007 in San Diego, California, has done an exhaustive search for the widely scattered artworks of Sadequain, which he, in most cases, carelessly gave away as soon as he made them to mostly undeserving individuals and institutions, mistakenly thinking that they will make efforts to preserve his legacy. He could not be more wrong. This book by SADEQUAIN Foundation contains some of the most important drawings by Sadequain which demonstrate his masterful skill as an artist, flight of his imagination and depth of his intellect. It is hoped that this book will be helpful in analyzing the imagery in Sadequain's drawings and establishing the links to appropriate historical and cultural context. Its empirical research and textual contents are balanced to address the sensitivities that attempt to compare and contrast arbitrary and loaded concepts.
