After being depressed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Indonesia's HDI in 2021 began to increase. Indonesia's HDI grew by 0.49 percent in 2021, higher than the previous year which was 0.03 percent but still lower than 2019 which grew by 0.74 percent. The improvement of Indonesia's HDI 2021 was mainly driven by increasing of decent living standards dimensions represented by adjusted real expenditure per capita. This variable grew 1.30 percent in 2021, after contracting by 2.53 percent in the previous year.
