During WWII, Ensign William Foye, U.S.N.R., F6F Hellcat pilot, was a member of Air Group Twenty, assigned to the USS Enterprise, CV6. "The Big E" was a proud ship with good reason. AG-20 added to the war record of that famous carrier as part of Task Force 38 under Admiral Halsey. After twenty-two missions, Foye had to bail out of his plane over Los Banos, Laguna, in the Philippines after taking Japanese anti-aricraft fire. The people of southern Luzon, in particular the members of President Quezon's own Guerrillas, rescued Foye. They demonstrated great bravery, had great luck, and endured great sacrfifices. This book tells the story of the Fighting Squadron Twenty, two downed pilots, the PQOG, the people of Luzon, the love story between Bill and his Navy murse Betty, and his return home. As an example of a generation almost gone, this stoyr is worth the eight years of work to do it justice. We pay our debt to all the brave people in this book by remembering.
