This book offers an analysis of the major legal issues which affect the flow of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to Sri Lanka. It offers coverage of the inter relationship between legal and non-legal measures to attract FDI and then addresses the national policies which might be adopted in order to encourage a positive environment for investment. The later chapters consider Sri LankaAs position in the international sphere, with particular focus on bilateral investment treaties, the potential for regional measures to be adopted in order to improve the investment situation (with particular emphasis on SAARC and reforms to the system) and, finally, an analysis of the multilateral agreements to which Sri Lanka is a party under the auspices of the WTO.
