This catalogue includes approximately 80 pieces/sets of works exhibited in Wild Imagination: Contemporary Ink Art in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao from 2000 to 2022 organised by the Macao Museum of Art in 2022. Curated by renowned contemporary art critic Pi Daojian, the exhibition observes and traces the development of contemporary ink art in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in the past two decades. The exhibition presents works in four thematic sections, namely “Nature as Poetry”, “Wild Imagination – Imagery”, “Metaphysical Thinking” and “Landscapes in Ink and Water”, which include contemporary ink paintings, mixed media, animations, video installations and installations. The exhibition provides a detailed perspective of how ink art in the Greater Bay Area was transformed from traditional Chinese ink painting into an international contemporary art language in the last 20 years.
