The period 1866 – 1906, this study covers, was characterized by the predominance of activities leading to sociocultural changes in the Sri Lankan Society (Then Ceylon). The Present day Sri Lankan society emerged with the impact of a new sociocultural situation resulted from the colonial authority, plantation economy, education reforms, and the cultural propagation, which contributed to a fundamental transformation. This transformation brought about a cultural dilemma in the social sphere of contemporary Sri Lanka.
