Above the Mirage is a story about the interplay of love, power and greed. A handful of Portuguese explorers arrived the shores of Ikekaka Kingdom for the first time in the fifteenth century, arousing the curiosity of the natives who thought they were gods, thereby upsetting traditions cherished for untold generations. Lured by the glitter of mirrors and lust for cowries and gold, King Aigbe pushed the patience of his subjects to the limits by engaging in questionable transactions with the foreigners to the detriment of the interests of the kingdom.
