Like other democratic events and institutions, elections are usually ritualised, being social activities that are full of symbolism and meaning. The book provides insight into the political engagement and metaphors of ritual associated with electoral democracy in Nigeria since the democratic transition that ended long years of military rule in 1999. It explores the dynamics of political groups, electoral campaigns, legal frameworks and the influence of party gladiators and civil society groups on voting behaviour in the 2019 general elections.
