Civil servants Pixley and Joubert are instructed by the Minister to travel around the country and oversee the removal of all colonial and apartheid-era statues, symbols and monuments. Pixley is descended from Zulu nobility, while Joubert is believed to be a descendent of General Piet Joubert on his great-grandmother's side. As they go about their work they are forced to confront their personal histories.
