This celebration includes the stories of more than 200 Afrikaans pioneers and mavericks of the past century, written by over 70 journalists, family members, former students or friends. Those honoured include Marlene Dumas, Hylton Nel, Pieter Hugo, Anton Kannemeyer, Conrad Botes, Eugene Marais, Adam Small, Elsa Joubert, Antjie Krog, Deon Meyer, Karel Schoeman, Ronelda Kamfer and Nathan Trantraal, Errol Arendz, Marianne Fassler, Marthinus Basson, Tobie Cronje, Leon Schuster, Jan Smuts, Johan Degenaar, Evita Bezuidenhout and Pieter Dirk Uys, Johannes Kerkorrel, David Kramer, Talipe Petersen, and many more.
