InHERIT 2023 highlighted the lives of local communities and strategic areas of interests for Sarawak's tourism. The local people of Borneo have been practicing their artistic and cultural manifestations for hundreds of years, and now the boundless world of digital technology reaffirms their distinctiveness on a global scale. The irony of a globalized and networked society is that we are now witnessing a larger separation between the dominant society and indigenous communities as a result of modernization. The impacts of various forms of expropriation and marginalisation on live indigenous cultures and heritage are enormous. Therefore, one of the primary goals of InHERIT 2023 is to conserve these vital and unique cultural heritage. We believe local people have the right to practice and revitalise their cultural traditions and customs, and showcase them to the world.
